The Shed Challenge is simple: at your next move-up appointment, ask to see your shed.

Most people don’t know they can do that. Nobody told them it’s allowed, or that it even matters. So they don’t ask, and they never see it — good or bad.

What to Actually Ask For

Next time you’re in the chair, ask your stylist:

  • “Can I see my shedding?” You have a right to see what’s coming out of your own head.
  • “Can I see my scalp?” Take a real look. Redness, tightness, sore spots — you’d want to know.
  • “Am I being reinstalled in the exact same spot every time?” Reusing the same placement over and over is one of the things that causes real damage. Your hair needs to move with your growth, not get anchored in the same spot appointment after appointment.

These aren’t unusual questions. They’re basic safety protocols, and any stylist confident in their work should be glad you asked.

The Big Warning Sign

If your extension method isn’t showing you — or showing on their social media or website — what real grow-out and real shedding looks like, ask yourself why.

It may be because they don’t want you to know.

That’s not a small thing. That’s a red flag.

What It Should Look Like Instead
